I live just south of Mpls. If our wonderful (not) governor had not just vetoed the gas tax which was earmarked for hwy infrastructure, this may have been avoided. The train tracks are on the North - East side of the bridge and the train there is not operational to the best of my knowledge. The cars pictured (crushed) did not move in the five years I lived in Minneapolis. I probably biked over them at least 400 times and remember the graffiti on them vividly.. Could not have been the cause for the collapse IMHO. I just moved out of Minneapolis. There is a tressel bridge just down the river about a half mile. And also a walking bridge that is on campus that the students use. I have not seen any trains crushed in the footage i've seen. I think it's way too early to be able to know anything definite especially with a disaster of this magnitude. Not to mention the added difficulty of the river.
