Hmm. Here’s the photo on BBC News’ page, as it appeared on Wednesday:

Note the picture used alongside the article. In the corner of the image, where photo attribution belongs, are the letters “AFP”, being the initials for Agence France-Presse.
However, Bob Owens notes this picture has been seen before. It first appeared on July 31, 2007 on the page of Sgt. Brandon Aird of the 173rd ABCT Public Affairs Office.

The picture was taken by the same sergeant.
In an email to Bob, I asked if it was possible that the sergeant sold the image to AFP. He responded that, not only isn’t the sergeant allowed to sell it, he can’t even give it away. It’s only allowed to be distributed through official military channels.
The newest version of the page features a different photo.
