Simply amazing how efficient our system is, isn’t it? You know, when we actually try using it?
An illegal immigrant who took refuge in a Chicago church for a year to avoid being separated from her U.S.-born son has been deported to Mexico, the church’s pastor said.
She had just spoken at rally Los Angeles rally when she was arrested Sunday outside Our Lady Queen of Angels church and deported, said the Rev. Walter Coleman, pastor of Adalberto United Methodist Church in Chicago, where Arellano had been living.
“She has been deported. She is free and in Tijuana,” said Coleman, who said he spoke to her on the phone. “She is in good spirits. She is ready to continue the struggle against the separation of families from the other side of the border.”
How long before she tries crossing again? She was deported years ago, and returned just a week later. Her son remains in the country, living with the pastor’s family. I’d assume she’s not planning on never seeing him again. So, she has two choices: Take him with her to Mexico, or return to the United States. She’s not only an illegal alien, but a criminal illegal, having been convicted of Social Security fraud in 2002.
Oh, and courtesy of AllahP., we have out anti-assimilation quote of the day:
“From the time I took sanctuary the possibility has existed that they arrest me in the place and time they want,” she said in Spanish. “I only have two choices. I either go to my country, Mexico, or stay and keep fighting. I decided to stay and fight.”
Yep. Keep in mind, they just want to become Americans and pay taxes, like the rest of us. Allah writes:
She’s in Tijuana now so it’ll be easy to slip back in, but once she does the media’s going to cover it and that’s not the type of case study on border enforcement that the “undocumented community” is keen to have. I’m sure most of them are begging her to stay put, but her son’s here and she wanted to attend a vigil in D.C. on September 12 so who knows if she’ll listen?
What a moment if she turns up there next month to laugh in Chertoff’s face. Viva el crackdown!
