Senator Craig Arrested in June for “Suspicion of Lewd Conduct”

by Stephan Tawney on August 27, 2007

Of course, reading any report you’ll instantly know to which party he belongs. Why? Because the media will mention it as early as possible. H/t Allah.

Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho) was arrested in June at a Minnesota airport by a plainclothes police officer investigating lewd conduct complaints in a men’s public restroom, according to an arrest report obtained by Roll Call Monday afternoon.

Craig’s arrest occurred just after noon on June 11 at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. On Aug. 8, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct in the Hennepin County District Court. He paid more than $500 in fines and fees, and a 10-day jail sentence was stayed. He also was given one year of probation with the court that began on Aug. 8.

A spokesman for Craig described the incident as a “he said/he said misunderstanding,” and said the office would release a fuller statement later Monday afternoon.

Craptastic.

Don’t believe what I’m saying about the media? KIFA, first paragraph:

We are getting reports of Idaho Republican Senator Larry Craig was arrested and plead guilty for an incident that happened at a Minnesota airport.

KTVB mentions under header image.

Salon.com, first paragraph.

Sen. Larry Craig, the senior Republican from Idaho, pleaded guilty this month to charges of misdemeanor disorderly conduct after a police officer witnessed him engaging in lewd behavior in an airport restroom, reports Roll Call, a Capitol Hill newspaper.

And the story is so new, it isn’t on CNN.com yet.

I don’t excuse Craig’s behavior, but the opportunity must be taken to show the blatant double-standard in news coverage.
