It may sound strange, but he’s actually got this thing for Britain finishing a job it started. Strange, huh?

Gordon Brown has ruled out setting a timetable for the withdrawal of British troops from Iraq, saying they still have “an important job to do”.

The prime minister said in a letter to Liberal Democrat leader Sir Menzies Campbell the military still had “clear obligations to discharge”.

He insisted setting a timetable would undermine those efforts.

Menzies wants to know what Iraq’s doing for them right now. Apparently he can only see in terms of the coming days and weeks. Apparently he doesn’t see the fact that al Qaeda, the same terror group who attacked us on 9/11 and Britain on 7/7, would have a base of operation otherwise. He doesn’t see the fact that it would turn into complete civil war and genocide. As the days go by, we continue to bring more and more people and groups to our side. So the answer is withdrawal and reversal of progress?
