Hillary’s been taking a lot of flack for having Norman Hsu as a top donor. However, she’s not the only Democratic who’s received donations from this fugitive. A search on NewsMeat by the Freepers revealed the donations made by Hsu over the years. It includes, per FEC rules, all donations over $200. Every single candidate and group on that list, received large donations from a fugitive. Hsu’s money helped finance everything from John Kerry’s candidacy to the Democratic Congressional take-over in ‘06 to the election of two current Democratic presidential candidates.
No Low Profile
Speaking with William at an insane time of the morning, he points out to a Newsday article which states:
Though he is a fugitive, Hsu has hardly kept a low profile. The website camerarts.com, which sells photographs taken at political events, features shots of Hsu at several fundraisers he hosted at Manhattan’s elegant St. Regis hotel — including a June 2005 luncheon for Rep. Doris Matsui (D-Sacramento).
So, I decided to check out that site. Sure enough, there are pictures of Hsu hosting fundraisers. Like this one, which he hosted for Stabenow. Here’s another of Hsu, speaking to the Senator herself. Here he is presenting her with a shirt. Here he is giving a speech at the same fundraiser breakfast. So, what hole-in-the wall, secluded building was this held in? The St. Regis in New York City.
Here he is with Congresswoman Doris Matsui at a luncheon at the same hotel. And he also gave a speech at that gathering.
Going by FEC filings, Hsu lives in an apartment building that currently sells four-bedroom suites at $5 million to $7.2 million. It contains only 15 units and 8 floors. Records indicate the apartment building was only built in 2004.
