Nanny Judge: Everyone in Britain Should be in DNA Database

This level of nanny state is only in Britain - for now. Seriously, though, how creepy is this?

The police DNA database debate exploded today when a senior judge called for every person in the UK – and all visitors – to be added to the list.

Lord Justice Sedley, one of Britain’s most experienced appeal court judges, said the current database of crime suspects was “indefensible.”

It carried details of people who were entirely innocent, but were unlucky enough to have come under police investigation, and was unfairly weighted for some ethnic groups.

He told BBC News it would be fairer to include everybody “innocent or guilty” on it.

Not only Brits - visitors, too. A database to track visitors is one thing, but DNA-based? I fail to see how that would even have counter-terror benefits. Check the DNA of the bomber’s bits all over the road? For that reason, I see this as only being implemented for basic crime. For innocent and guilty people, though? That’s a whole new level of creepy.

Exit question(s): How would the DNA be entered into the database? Would you be required to present a hair sample?
What about bald people? Fingernails?
