The latest New York Times poll finds that 68% of Americans believe that US Commanders in Iraq will have the most luck resolving the situation there. Just 21% say the same of Congress, 5% for President Bush.
However, Allah points to a disturbing figure – one that will boggle the mind as we approach the anniversary of 9/11. 65% said they believe we should begin withdrawing our troops. Yet, 43%, a majority, said they believed it would be “Very Likely” that al Qaeda would establish bases there. Unbelievable. Have these people forgotten what that very terrorist group did to us 6 years ago, tomorrow? And they’re ok with it establishing yet another base in Iraq, allowing it to carry out its terrorist operations.
Final interesting figure. When asked if President Bush made things sound better, worse, or exactly how it is in Iraq, 67% responded “Better”. When the same is asked about Congressional Democrats, a majority of those polled (44%) said “Worse”.
