Moonbats Launch Campaign to Distract Recruiters
by Stephan Tawney
The idea behind it is that these anti-war moonbats will take up the time of military recruiters with their insincere interest to join the military. While the recruiter believes he has someone sincerely interested in serving their nation, in fact it’s a moonbat who doesn’t know the meaning of the phrase. This will apparently take up all of the recruiters time, leaving him/her no time to address those actually interested in joining up. It’s sleezy and works against the best interests of the nation. It’s par for the Left.
Here’s the flyer (PDF) on the website dedicated to this whole deceitful practice. The organization launching the campaign is Iraq Vets Against the War. Yeah, well, here’s the problem with that. Remember Jesse MacBeth? The supposed anti-war veteran propped up by the group, was actually not a veteran and was charged later on with assault charges. As Michelle writes:
You won’t be surprised to learn that the group that promotes fraudulent veterans is organizing a fraud campaign to interfere with military recruiters.
I’m not. And guess what. The practice, if carried out, is illegal. See, moonbats, whether you’d like to believe otherwise or not, we’re at war. Allah points to criminal statute 18 U.S.C. 2388:
Whoever, when the United States is at war, willfully causes or attempts to cause insubordination, disloyalty, mutiny, or refusal of duty, in the military or naval forces of the United States, or willfully obstructs the recruiting or enlistment service of the United States, to the injury of the service or the United States, or attempts to do so – Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.
The problem, as Allah points out, is proving that there efforts are insincere. There hasn’t been a successful prosecution since WWII. However, and I’m no lawyer, perhaps with the age of the internet showing who you support, that may be possible. Hopeful Glenn Reynolds will be able to weigh in.
Basically, the message is for recruiters to be aware and vigilant of people attempting this practice.

A military recruiter’s nightmare

Here is a thought about a potentially effective counter-recruitment tactic…What if military-aged persons contacted their local recruiter and feigned interest in exploring a military career?
The person would talk to the recruiter, politely listen to the recruiter’s presentation, make appointments and not show up, reschedule and show up, ask questions, take tests, remain polite but noncommittal, ultimately decide not to enlist.
The whole point would be to waste the recruiter’s time and energy. An hour spent recruiting somebody who is not interested is an hour NOT spent recruiting some impressionable teenager who may be receptive to the recruiter’s deceptive claims and imagery.
If enough persons do this, it would clog the recruitment system, demoralize the recruiters, and obstruct the war machine at its most vulnerable point.
Ecrasez l’infame!
Good idea! Let’s demoralize the troops, obstruct the “war machine”, and clog up the recruitment system at a time of war! Don’t question their patriotism, though…
Yet More: If you dare to visit the Kos post, be sure to get a good laugh at the comment section, where you can enjoy such gems as this:

Good to know that terrorists are now “foreign poor people”. And then there’s this one from the same person:

Brilliant! We’ll nuke countries that pose a threat to us!
This commentator is a gift that keeps on giving:

Costa Rica.
And finally, the commentator essentially says that those who sign up are idiots:

By the way, isn’t Daily Kos’ founder a veteran? Why yes, Markos Moulitsas Zúniga, joined at…18.
