Illegal Alien Shoots, Kills Officer

by Stephan Tawney on September 21, 2007

If you’ve seen the news this morning (and by that I mean Fox), you’ve most likely seen this story. Another failure to secure our borders. Another failure to stop illegal immigration. Another failure by government to realize how important securing our border before even thinking about amnesty. Another innocent man dead. Another 2 children without a daddy. Another widow.

Officer Nick Erfle of Phoenix was shot and killed by 22-year old Erik Jovani Martinez, an illegal alien, Tuesday morning. Officer Erfle had been trying to arrest Martinez at the time. Like too many other stories, Martinez has been deported before – back in 2006 for a felony. Martinez was later shot and killed after trying to flee the scene.

Already, illegal alien apologists have been going the Geraldo route:

“We want to remind all of Arizona and the nation that this crime had nothing to do with the legal status of that person, but rather his criminal intentions,” said Phoenix resident and CEO of Immigrants Without Borders Elias Bermudez…

Tuesday morning Arizmendiz called into the radio show The Voice of the Immigrant hosted by Bermudez, and asked Latinos and undocumented immigrants to attend the evening’s vigil in support of Erfle’s family.

“We are here to show that we do not agree with this criminal activity . . . and to send a message to parents to talk to their kids,” said Chilean immigrant and Mesa resident Magdalena Schwartz.

“Undocumented children in schools and colleges have hopes and dreams too. We can prevent this kind of crime if we talk to our kids especially when they are in Junior High . . . remind yourself why you brought them here to this country.”

Yet, they can not deny the fact that had Martinez not been in the country, this wouldn’t have happened. Just like too many other cases, had the illegal alien not been here, it wouldn’t have happened. Just look back at the Newark execution-style shooting. And the case of Zina Linnick. And so many more. Securing our borders could’ve stopped this. Instead, we maintain open-borders with a catch-and-release policy. Until that stops, expect to see more of these stories.
