Bombshell:Rudy’s Views on Terror Changed on 9/11

by Stephan Tawney on September 24, 2007

Or at least, that’s what the Washington Post thinks it has on its hands with this:

But for most of Giuliani’s career as a Department of Justice official, prosecutor and New York’s chief executive, terrorism was a narrow aspect of his broader crime-fighting agenda, which was dominated by drug dealers, white-collar criminals and the Mafia. Giuliani expressed confidence that Islamic extremism could be contained through vigorous investigation by law enforcement agencies and prosecution in the court system — the same approach he now condemns.

Through the 90s, the President of the United States didn’t even have a plan to deal with bin Laden and his terror network, but Giuliani was expected to consider it a larger part of his crime-fighting agenda…as a mayor.

To sum up the article, WaPo tries to expose some kind of double-statement to prove as if Giuliani isn’t genuine. Yet what it actually does, is say A) terrorism wasn’t as high on his New York prosecutor and mayor’s list as murder, drugs and the mafia in the city, B) He changed his views after 9/11, taking terror much more seriously, C) Giuliani’s response to 9/11 wasn’t a perfectly well-oiled machine, and some mistakes were made in the middle of the chaos . Duh.
