First of all, there’s this from Michelle Malkin. She’s apparently earned a “down arrow” on Newsweek’s Conventional Wisdom section. The description beneath it?
Heartless right-wing blogger attacks 12-year-old brain-injury victim over insurance. Sick.
What is this? Kos? HuffPo? Michelle never “attack(ed)” Graeme Frost. She questioned and investigated the financial situation the led his family to rely upon S-CHIP. She never attacked him.
Did Newsweek do this when Left-wing bloggers attacked John Roberts’ 4-year-old son after his dad’s nomination, saying he was gay? How about the little boy we had as a spokesman for our Social Security reform in 2005? The nutroots reaction?
Jesus’ General and TBogg made sexual references. Kewpie called him a ” budding young fascist”. DadaHead said Noah was in “desperate need of a good ass-kicking…”. Democratic Underground wrote comments we won’t reprint here. To name some more, we’ve got Salon, Daily Kos, Atrios, and Melissa McEwan.
But those can’t be heartless individuals for attacking a 9-year-old on a personal level. Only Michelle can be for investigating a family’s financial situation leading them to need SCHIP.
Selective criticism and open-blindness on this level requires real talent, I’ll give Newsweek that.
Next up we have Nancy Pelosi attacking the “hate radio” for daring to, again, investigate the family Dems sent out to attack them.
This reporter asked Pelosi “Is it appropriate for opponents of SCHIP expansion to openly question the circumstances that led some children to become spokespeople for that expansion?”
Pelosi replied that she “would not censor” critics and “I can’t control what they have to say,” but much of it was “beneath the integrity of the debate.”
She classified many of the “attacks that impugn children” as coming from “hate radio.”
I was unaware that the “integrity of the debate” had ever been set, Madame Speaker. I figured there wasn’t one when Keith Olbermann coaxed the Frost family into showing pictures of their children in hospital beds after the accident. That didn’t violate the “integrity of the debate”, but investigating their finances did?
It seems the Speaker and Newsweek share a talent.
