Limbaugh/Reid Letter Auction Ends at over $2 million
by Stephan Tawney
Simply remarkable. And the good news here is that the final bidder is, indeed, a real person: Betty Casey.
Betty B. Casey is a noted philanthropist and supporter of the arts, particularly the Washington Opera, and donated prime real estate to the Salvation Army when objections to a planned mayoral mansion for D.C. killed the plan. She has also donated $6,900 to Barack Obama’s campaign, as well as to the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
What a wonderful thing for her to do for the children of our troops killed while on duty. Rush says that she’s a big fan of the program, and has been listening since the beginning.
As promised, Rush will be matching her donation. Therefore, more than $4 million will be donated to The Marine Corps – Law Enforcement Foundation. The charity, which is highly rated, sets up scholarships for children of Marines and federal law enforcement who died while on duty.
BTW, Reid tried to claim some responsibility for this on the Senate floor today.
