The California Wildfires: Zero Percent Contained

When compiling this post, I tried to find a picture on the wire services that fully conveyed the situation out in California. I’ve yet to find one. According to Fox News, literally “zero” percent is contained. The flames are threatening thousands of homes, with many nursing home and hospital patients having been evacuated from the area. As for helicopters dropping water, the winds are too strong for them to take off.

The overall situation appears to be going from bad to worse. At least one person has been killed, and there are at least 12 wildfires currently raging out of control. Weather reports say there will be at least two more days of high winds, low humidity, and hot air.

Gov. Schwarzenegger has declared a state of emergency in 7 counties. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the way of this monstrous fire. Please stay safe.
