He tells The New York Observer:
“It’s maddening to see the Army selectively leak to the Drudge Report things that we’ve been trying to obtain from them through Freedom of Information Act requests,” Mr. Foer said. “This fits a pattern in this case where the army has leaked a lot of stuff to right wing blogs.”
Note: He has no evidence that the military leaked it. Whether they did or didn’t, he makes this statement without evidence. Par for the course.
Interesting that Foer doesn’t address the fact that on September 7 he posted a request that the Army allow them to speak to Beauchamp, though they did that same day in a phone call. There was no post mentioning that.
Mr. Foer said TNR had been trying since July to get access to some of the documents Mr. Drudge posted, but that the Army had not cooperated.
Bob Owens filed for the documents last month and was expecting them this week or next. Did Foer file via FOIA?
Among these was the Army’s final report on its investigation into Mr. Beauchamp’s TNR pieces. The report concludes that portions of those pieces had been “completely fabricated.”
Though the exact wording and details weren’t available, the Associated Press reported, months ago, that an Army investigation concluded Beauchamp’s stories were false.
Once again, Foer has refused to take responsibility for printing false, Army slandering reports. He knew before September 7 that the stories were being questioned and, when asked by Foer, Beauchamp refused to stand by his stories.
And, so, the story goes on…
H/t Michelle.
