He’s been a positive driving force in the immigration debate, but Tacredo’s decided to retire from Congress in 2008.
A spokesman for Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) confirmed Monday that the congressman will not seek another term in Congress in 2008, regardless of his fate in the presidential race.
Tancredo’s exit, first reported by the Rocky Mountain News after the Colorado Rockies lost baseball’s World Series on Sunday night, adds another GOP retirement to a growing list…
Tancredo has also suggested that he might run for freshman Sen. Ken Salazar’s (D-Colo.) seat in 2010.
As for his presidential run? Remains as long shot as before. He’s not the only one retiring, though. McNulty (D-NY) won’t seek reelection.
Rep. Michael McNulty (D-N.Y.) on Monday became the first Democrat this cycle to officially announce his retirement from Congress.
“I am pleased to announce that when my 10th term in the United States House of Representatives expires in January of 2009, I am coming home to the people and the community I love so much,” McNulty said at a press conference in Albany. “Words could not adequately express the gratitude I feel today. Surely, I am one of the luckiest people on the face of the earth.”
McNulty’s had polio since age 2.
