carwash New York Times Finds New Problem in Iraq

Horror Abound: Reports Indicate Iraqis Now Holding Illegal Car Washes

Because we all know there’s no corruption or crime in the United States, and especially not in Washington.

Jobless men pay $500 bribes to join the police. Families build houses illegally on government land, carwashes steal water from public pipes, and nearly everything the government buys or sells can now be found on the black market.

So basically there are corrupt government officials, illegal car washes and a black market. Don Surber:

Yes, things were so much cleaner under Saddam “Oil For Food” Hussein. No one ever bribed anyone in Iraq.

It is all George Walker Bush’s fault.

But I am not upset. This crappy story is further proof that we have won in Iraq. Life has returned to normal.

There are always black markets after a war. Germany, Japan, Italy, France and most nations bombed in World War II had black markets. Our nation was not immune. See Shays Rebellion or the post-Civil War carpetbaggers…

So this government is corrupted by cash. And a few people tap in to the water system.

When the NYT shows me the editorial where it complained about the UN or Saddam Hussein and the $20 billion stolen from “Oil For Food,” then maybe we can talk about someone tapping in illegally to the water system.

This goes right up there with the story about grave diggers losing business because of the decrease in violence. Tom Maguire quips:

We went in with too few auditors, but maybe it is not too late for an international Coalition of the Billing to sort this out.  By the hour.

Heh.
