We were expecting him to drop out, so no real surprise there. His reason (besides not enough support)? He felt he was pulling enough votes away that he was helping to allow a pro-amnesty candidate to win. Very honorable, and shows his true commitment (beyond personal interests) to fighting illegal immigration. He has, by the way, updated his campaign website with a video and note.
Tancredo’s work over the years to stop amnesty and bring immigration to the front burner, is well-deserving of praise. His voice will certainly be missed in the House and on the stage. In a way, Congressman Tancredo has already won. He has accomplished his mission - to bring the issue of illegal immigration to the forefront in the presidential debate. Congratulations, and thank you, Congressman Tancredo.
In his address announcing his decision, he also endorsed a fellow candidate: Mitt Romney. The endorsement should give Mitt some credit on the issue, so it may end up helping him outside of just Tom’s supporters.
