Right Wing News’ John Hawkins is working his sources in the Republican campaigns, and is hearing reports about the alleged scandal about to break. Here’s his one source:
I think I know what the story is, but I don’t have any information I can leak. And, really, I don’t know if the story has legs or not. That said, it’s not a story that’s coming from us. I wish I could tell you more, but that’s really all I can say.
Then he updates with this:
Another source of mine, which is not with the Huckabee campaign or the same campaign as my previous source, told me that they are hearing that the story is going to be that Romney was behind the “anti-Mormon” push polling that got so much attention in Iowa.
John updates again saying he emailed his first source, asking if that’s the story he was thinking about. It is.
This strikes me the same way it strikes Bryan. Carter, a Huckabee supporter, drops hints about a major scandal revolving around Mitt the day of the first caucus. No details. Just dropping hints.
We know he’s a Huckabee supporter, and we know he despises Romney, but because he hasn’t shown his cards on this “scandal” we have no way of knowing whether he really has something or is just blowing smoke.
I don’t like it.
Nor do I.
