HuckaChuck: Let’s Amend the Constitution So It’s In Line With “God’s Standards”

by Stephan Tawney on January 15, 2008

A puke-inducing piece at its finest. As Allah says:

Big government plus religious demagoguery — it’s two classic Huck soundbites rolled into one. He could have said “let’s bring it in line with moral standards” or just said what he means, i.e. “let’s ban abortion and gay marriage nationwide.” But there’s no identity politics in that phrasing, is there? For “God’s standards,” it takes more of a “Christian leader,” shall we say.

Here’s the transcript:

I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution. But I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God. And that’s what we need to do, is to amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards, rather than trying God’s standards so it lines up with some temporary view of how we treat each other and how we treat the families.

Take one part religious demagoguery, one part big government, a sprinkle of ignorance, and a dash of cult-like followers. Mix, let sit. What could possibly go wrong?
