Fredheads Disperse

With Fred having dropped his bid, most of his supporters are (obviously) left finding another candidate to rally behind. So, who’s the beneficiary of the Fredhead votes? It would seem that the obvious answer would be Mitt Romney. But is he?

Allah links to this WaPo piece claiming McCain is actually the second-choice of more Fredheads than any other remaining candidate.

Reallocating his supporters from most recent Post-ABC national poll to their second choices (same for California congressman Duncan Hunter who also recently ended his bid): McCain 30%, Huckabee 20%, Giuliani 18%, Romney 18%, Paul 5%.

There’s a scary thought, yet hard to believe. Sure, Fred hesitated to go after McCain, and Carl Cameron claims Thompson was vying for a VP slot. But few Fredheads I’ve met can claim to be McCain fans.
