Actor Heath Ledger, best known for films such as The Patriot and Brokeback Mountain, has been found dead in his New York apartment, according to the NYPD. The 28-year-old actor was reportedly found with pills nearby.

Ledger was set to play the Joker in the upcoming Warner Brothers Batman film “The Dark Knight”.
