McCain Holds Press Conference On NYT Hit Piece

by Stephan Tawney on February 21, 2008

Mark Halperin reports:

“I’m very disappointed in the New York Times piece. It’s not true,” says a subdued McCain, with his wife at his side.

Says he and lobbyist Iseman are “friends,” and traveling in her client’s corporate jet “was an accepted practice.” Denies that anyone on his staff urged him to spend less time with her.

Glenn Beck is slamming the slime story this morning, saying they’re mostly rehashing the Keating Five. And he’s right. The most evidence they have is unnamed sources saying some in his office were concerned about the appearance of him spending time with Iseman.

If this was a problem, why did The New York Times endorse McCain? Of course, we know the answer to that.

Update: A quote from Cindy McCain:

“My children and I not only trust my husband, but know that he would never do anything to not only disappoint our family, but disappoint the people of America.”
