I applaud the effort, but I doubt $12,000 will be enough to entice information out of someone in-the-know.

No arrests have been made, no suspects identified. But police investigators said that a blue bicycle recovered at Madison Avenue and 38th Street on Thursday morning was probably the one used by the bomber. A $12,000 reward has been offered for any information that leads to a conviction in the bombing.

Over at Ace of Spades, Purple Avenger throws around an idea:

For a millions bucks, a lot of people would turn in their own mothers. Maybe this is something the blogosphere could do something about? Get some sort of reward fund going, pledge some percentage of blog-ad revenue, I don’t know, something along those lines. This is just a very preliminary notion at the moment that just popped into my head

I’d be willing to go along with something like this.
