We’ve already learned that 28% of Clinton’s supporters claim they will vote for McCain if (when) the Messiah eventually takes the nomination. Keeping with house rules of a 3/4 reduction for time, this new poll shows that 4% of Clinton supporters will stay home come November.
Sixteen percent of Clinton supporters questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Thursday afternoon said they are not likely to vote in the general election if Obama is the Democratic nominee. An equal number of Obama supporters said they’ll sit it out come November if Clinton is their party’s nominee.
Strategic question for anyone willing to answer guess at it: As Allah asked the other day, is it better for the primary to drag on longer or end quickly? As time goes by and Clinton’s backers realize she won’t win, they’ll resign themselves to the fact Obama is the nominee. However, what happens if they feel Clinton has been pushed out before she’s had an opportunity to recover? Will it inspire a greater feeling of revenge? Or does the damage the two are inflicting on each other outweigh the voter dissatisfaction?
