Will Hillary Be Pushed Out?

by Stephan Tawney on March 28, 2008

It’s beginning. Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy, an Obama supporter, is now pushing for Hillary Clinton to drop out of the race before a large chunk of the country has voted.

“There is no way that Senator Clinton is going to win enough delegates to get the nomination. She ought to withdraw and she ought to be backing Senator Obama. Now, obviously that’s a decision that only she can make frankly I feel that she would have a tremendous career in the Senate.”

Except Hillary’s entire political career hasn’t been based on becoming yet another Senator. She’s most likely been planning a run for the presidency since Bill took the White House, if not before then. She’s not about to just throw up her arms and hand it over to a guy that only came along in four years ago.

Meanwhile, Dean says he wants the full contest resolved by July 1st.

“I think it would be nice to have this all done by July 1,” Dean said on ABC’s “Good Morning America” program. “If we can do it sooner than that, that’s all the better.

“There has been some personal criticism,” he said. “We don’t want this to degenerate into a big fight at the convention.”

Sen. Harry Reid recently told reporters that it would be resolved before the convention. When asked how, he just gave a mysterious “it will” response.

So, will Hillary be pushed out of the race? Will her adversaries succeed?
