Michael Tunison is a metro writer that works worked at the Washington Post. He also happens to blog at Kissing Suzy Kolber, anonymously until recently. Apparently someone decided to begin paying bloggers at KSK, so Tunison decided to out himself from behind his blogging name “Christmas Ape”. Included in the outing post was a picture of Tunison apparently drunk and with the Pittsburgh Parrot.
Less than 48 hours later, he was fired from the Post. The reasoning behind the termination?
Wait for it.
He brought “discredit to the paper”. Holy crap. Uh, WaPo? That ship sailed like years ago. That’s like being criticized for bringing your damn liberal ideas to the Democratic Party, or being attacked for bringing alcoholic beverages to a frat party. Too freakin late!
Via Deadspin, here’s a few examples of things you may want to avoid if working for the Washington Post: Dressing as a Pilgrim and wearing an orange safety vest and ski cap on national television. You know, those things could bring “discredit to the paper”.
