Obama’s Own Tuzla Moment

by Stephan Tawney on May 16, 2008

Via Hot Air, it would seem that Barack Obama concocted a story about the reception he received in Detroit after demanding higher fuel efficiency standards. He claims that “nobody clapped, the room was really quiet”. I guess it all depends on what your definition of “clap” is, because Obama received not only applause but a standing ovation.

Watch as Team Obama (which includes the media) claims that pointing out his blatant concoction is a “distraction from the real issues”.

Update: Rationalizations for his lie appear in the comments section at YouTube:

lol that was hardly a “standing ovation” as the video claims. They were forced to clap to Obama so as to not look bad themselves. You can tell that they were not in favor

So apparently “nobody clapped, the room was really quiet” means “Well, they applauded several times and gave me a standing ovation, but I could tell their hearts weren’t really in it”. Heh.
