Obama Downplays the Iranian Threat

Extreme stupidity. First of all, he seems to believe that the only serious threat they could pose would be through the 1/100th of the amount we spend on military. Nevermind the extensive terrorist networks they have killing our troops and posing threats to other nations daily. Of course those terrorists networks would be unable to smuggle a nuclear weapon into a Western city, right?

Second, when we engaged the Soviet Union, it already possessed nuclear weapons. It already had the capability to wipe us off the face of the Earth. The purpose of our policy with Iran is to prevent the psychopathic, irrational country (that cares little about Assured Mutual Destruction) from obtaining them.

The irreplaceable Ed Morrissey brings up the problem with Obama’s claim on the fall of the Berlin Wall.

The Soviet Union collapsed economically; they did not just decide to capitulate. The Berlin Wall did not fall as a result of negotiations, but because the regime propping it up ceased to exist. Why did the Soviet Union collapse? Because Ronald Reagan won an economic war with Moscow, forcing it to spend more and more and falling further and further behind. The Strategic Defense Initiative provided the coup de grace to the Soviets, who knew they could never match us in missile defense, and tried negotiating an end to the economic war instead, with disastrous results.

Obama also speaks of “common interests” we have with Iran. Perhaps he’d like to explain that further. What “common interests”? Funding terrorist networks? Dedicating itself to the utter destruction of Israel? A radical Sharia-based legal system, in which people are hung for being gay? Heck, the Iranian regime doesn’t even care much about living if it means destroying Israel/America.
