If CNS has its figures correct on this, and salaries of staffers are public record so it’s not like they need anonymous sources, then Barack Obama has some ’splainin to do. It appears that women in the offices of Barack Obama get payed, on average, $6,000 per year less than their male counter-parts.
On average, women working in Obama’s Senate office were paid at least $6,000 below the average man working for the Illinois senator. That’s according to data calculated from the Report of the Secretary of the Senate, which covered the six-month period ending Sept. 30, 2007. Of the five people in Obama’s Senate office who were paid $100,000 or more on an annual basis, only one — Obama’s administrative manager — was a woman.
The average pay for the 33 men on Obama’s staff (who earned more than $23,000, the lowest annual salary paid for non-intern employees) was $59,207. The average pay for the 31 women on Obama’s staff who earned more than $23,000 per year was $48,729.91. (The average pay for all 36 male employees on Obama’s staff was $55,962; and the average pay for all 31 female employees was $48,729. The report indicated that Obama had only one paid intern during the period, who was a male.)
McCain, an Arizona senator, employed a total of 69 people during the reporting period ending in the fall of 2007, but 23 of them were interns. Of his non-intern employees, 30 were women and 16 were men. After excluding interns, the average pay for the 30 women on McCain’s staff was $59,104.51. The 16 non-intern males in McCain’s office, by comparison, were paid an average of $56,628.83.
As Ed Morrissey observes, Obama consistently speaks out against unequal wages for men and women. If he thinks that should change, perhaps he should start at his own office.

Because That Sounds Like a Typical Righty…

Here’s a story out of Orlando, FL, where dozens of vehicles were found vandalized on Saturday. Many of the cars apparently were spray-painted with anti-Obama slogans, with his name being spelled in several different ways. Then there’s this:
The person or persons left a business card with political ramblings and other phrases such as ‘How ‘Bout them Gators’ and ‘Legalize Marijuana/ Stop Building Prisons’.
Legalize marijuana and stop building prisons? Does that sound like your typical anti-Obama American?

If there are two members of the United States Senate that you should never have co-sponsor “marriage protection” legislation, it’s Sens. Larry Craig and David Vitter. And yet, sure enough, here they are co-sponsoring the Federal Marriage Amendment. I look forward to the late night jokes.

Councilman Charles Barron, seen more than once defending dictators, told the Observer that the worldwide, bi-partisan criticism of Mugabe is racist. Barron, who has called for New Yorkers to vote for Obama simply because he’s black and has compared Jeremiah Wright to MLK, had hosted Mugabe in NYC six years ago.
Lovely.

More DNC Fundraising Lies…
Filed Under Older | Leave a Comment
In the latest Democratic National Committee fundraising email to make the rounds, the party of flip-flops continues its blatant lie regarding the fundraising sources for Sen. McCain and the Republican Party. While appealing for donations as if the underdog in the fight, the email reads:
John McCain and the Republican National Committee have built a fundraising strategy based on accepting huge checks from Washington lobbyists and special interest PACs — and they are very good at it.
Really? Because last I checked, less than 1.7% of McCain’s and less than 1.1% of the RNC’s income came from lobbyists and PACs. Perhaps the DNC’s definition of a campaign being based on a strategy is that strategy being responsible for less than 2% of the success.
Too bad the rest of the world sees it differently.

Obama-Supporting General: McCain’s Fat
Filed Under Older | Leave a Comment
I’m so glad that Barack Obama and his supporters have continued to elevate the level of discourse in this campaign. Imagine how stupid this could’ve gotten if they resorted to mentioning someone’s weight during the campaign:
“He was fresh out of jail, you know,” Gen. McPeak said. “Skinny kid. All beat up of course, physically. But quite thin. They weren’t feeding him very well in Hanoi. He’s done very well at the dinner table in Washington.”
Gen. McPeak also said Mr. McCain received special favors when he returned to the U.S.
“McCain was always kind of an exception,” Gen. McPeak said.
If true, that may’ve stemmed from spending 5 1/2 years in prison, 2 years in solitary confinement, being bayoneted, having teeth broken out, being given harsh beatings, and no longer being able to lift your arms above a certain height. Just a guess, of course.
McPeak was last prominently seen predicting from the beginning that if everything works out right in Iraq, we’ll only be there “hopefully” for a century.

Filed Under Older | Leave a Comment
The MoveAmericaForward/Ustream webathon, with an initial goal of $500,000, raised over $1.05 million in 8 hours. Absolutely amazing.
Thanks to Andrew Breitbart, Michelle Malkin, Melanie Morgan, the Ustream Team, Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, the shocking number of Americans who donated, and so many more. And a very special thank you to the men and women who protect this country and our way of life.
God Bless.

In response to criticsm over remarks a campaign aide gave about his position on the DC handgun ban last year, Barack Obama claims to have been consistent on the issue:
“I don’t know what my aide said but I’ve been very consistent, I teach constitutional law,” Obama said.
Ah, gotcha. I must just be using a different dictionary than Obama, because mine says the word “consistent” means:
possessing firmness or coherence
And now watch as Obama goes from agreeing the DC gun ban is constitutional to saying it isn’t, within the span of a few months. Before the ruling:
And after the ruling:
Consistency!
