Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) has put yet another nail in Team Clinton’s coffin, coming out for Barack Obama today. Furthermore, he called for other party elites to team up to push Clinton out as the final primaries begin.
The South Carolina congressman had expressed concern about the negative tone of the Democratic nomination race and has criticised how Sen. Hillary Clinton’s campaign has dealt with Obama.
Clyburn was incensed when former President Bill Clinton dismissed Obama’s South Carolina victory, comparing his win to those of Rev. Jesse Jackson”s 1984 and 1988 primary wins and then accused the Obama campaign of “playing the race card” on him.
“How do you play the race card on the ex-president of the United States?” Clyburn asked at the time. “How do you do it? I would like to know how that’s done and who they [are]. And I’d like to see these memos he’s talking about. That’s what’s so bizarre about this.”
But, of course, not criticism over the negativity by Obama and his supporters, including his pastor of 20 years.
