Iran: If We Weren’t Clear, We’re Not Stopping Enrichment

Well, that was quite a productive meeting, was it not? We had the opportunity to be told by Iran, once again, that no negotiations are going to stop it in its road to a nuclear weapon. Obviously the only answer to this is more negotiations, but this time let’s give them presidential-level access. Right, Senator Obama?

The presence of [Undersecretary of State William] Burns had led to hopes of compromise on a formula under which Iran would agree to stop expanding its enrichment activities…

But doubt was cast over the value of talks less then an hour after they started, when Keyvan Imani, a member of the Iranian delegation, appeared to indicate that Tehran was not prepared to budge on enrichment.

“Suspension — there is no chance for that,” he told reporters gathered in the courtyard of Geneva’s ornate City Hall, the venue of the negotiations.

There also appeared to be little progress inside the talks.

Just incase the left still isn’t entirely clear on this, Iran just repeated its refusal to Reuters. As did a nuclear negotiator for Iran.

Anyone want to take a guess as to why Israeli’s prefer John McCain to Barack “Let’s have presidential-level meetings unconditionally” Obama?
