How very classy of him. While explaining his reasoning for blowing them off for today’s visit, his campaign said they didn’t feel it would be right to visit the troops during a trip the campaign was paying for. Well, it looks like Obama actually cancelled after his campaign was told they couldn’t bring any press — only a few staffers.
One military official who was working on the Obama visit said because political candidates are prohibited from using military installations as campaign backdrops, Obama’s representatives were told, “he could only bring two or three of his Senate staff member, no campaign officials or workers.” In addition,
“Obama could not bring any media. Only military photographers would be permitted to record Obama’s visit.”
The official said “We didn’t know why” the request to visit the wounded troops was withdrawn. “He (Obama) was more than welcome. We were all ready for him.”
Obviously this is bothersome, but not at all surprising. The last nominee the Democratic Party gave us had slandered his fellow troops and has a memorial dedicated to him in Vietnam for his efforts against the war. Could we seriously be surprised if their next nominee only wants to visit the troops if there’s a press corps in the room?
