Dictators, crooked friends, and now a celebrity on trial for murder. Quite an interesting bunch of supporters you’ve got there, Barack. Who’s next? Scott Peterson?

Today The Times’ eagle-eyed Harriet Ryan spotted Phil Spector, the famous rock entrepreneur and infamous date, showing up for a court hearing in Los Angeles wearing a very obvious “Barack Obama Rocks” pin.

Spector, you may recall, has some continuing legal troubles having to do with an actress, Lana Clarkson, turning up dead in his house after a date five years ago.

The LA Times notes that this isn’t the first (alleged) murderer to endorse the Illinois senator. Dale Lee Bishop, who was convicted of a claw-hammer murder in 1998, endorsed Obama before they flipped the switch.

Jane Fonda, who the LAT notes, “has now infuriated two generations of military veterans by her manning of an anti-aircraft gun battery against U.S. planes over Hanoi during the Vietnam War”, has also endorsed him.
