Dean’s Latest Lying Email

by Stephan Tawney

Just the latest as frequent visitors will know. The DNC chair once again lies about lobbyists and Republicans, all in an attempt to raise funds for a candidate that broke his promise on campaign finance.

This would be a very different message if you were a Republican.

For one, you wouldn’t be invited to the convention — unless you were a rich fat cat or very well connected. Also, this message would be filled with false, negative attacks targeting Barack and other Democrats.

He then proceeds to fill the message with negative attacks again McCain and the Republicans. He’s not actually inviting you to the convention, understand. If you donate money to Obama’s campaign before midnight tomorrow, you have a chance at becoming 1 of 10 donors allowed to attend backstage. Basically it’s a raffle.

Here’s a simple fact: John McCain and the Republican National Committee finished June with $100 million in the bank. And that’s not counting the untold millions collected by shadowy outside groups preparing their next Swift Boat.

Funny, I’ve seen very few outside groups rallying for donations to support the Republicans. I have, however, seen outside liberal groups (ie. MoveOn, SEIU) rallying to Obama’s side.

We need to close the fundraising gap — and, unlike our opponents, we do not accept money from Washington lobbyists or special interest PACs. Instead, we rely on ordinary people like you giving only what you can afford.

Actually, both the Democratic Party and Barack Obama accept donations from federally-registered lobbyists. Dean doesn’t let that interrupt the narrative, though.
