Russian Troops Enter Black Sea Port; Bush: Russia May Bomb Civilian Airport

Update: President Bush just finished he brief statement. Pretty tough words, calling the escalation “dramatic and brutal”. He said the situation is unacceptable in the 21st country and that Russia must accept the ceasefire. He made it clear that Russia is threatening its position in the world.

President Bush says intelligence shows that the Russians may be preparing to bomb the civilian airport that the U.S. and other allies want to use for humanitarian relief. He also notes that Russia appears to be pushing for regime change within Georgia.

Update: Russia reportedly denies the Poti invasion. Pardon my skepticism, but Russia doesn’t have a great track record in this conflict. The port is a strategic city, as it has an oil shipment center there.
