Seeing as the DNC is continuing its attack on McCain for having multiple homes today, I figure now would be a good time to look back at the last Democratic nominee’s home ownership. John Kerry, the man who like all Democratic nominees claims to represent the common man, received the Democratic nomination while “owning” homes all across the country.
- Boston’s Beacon Hill — $6.6 million
- Fox Chapel, PA — $3.7 million
- Ketchum, Idao — $4.9 million
- Nantucket — $9.1 million
- Georgetown — $4.7 million
Rough Total Value: $29 million
So now, all of a sudden, having multiple homes is somehow a sign of being out of touch with Americans? Are Democrats willing to admit that their last nominee was simply the wrong guy because he was out of touch? Of course not.
What was the excuse back then? Snopes explains: Kerry and his wife had a prenuptial agreement which kept their finances separate. Heinz owned the homes before she was married and only one was actually in Kerry’s name. Sound vageuly familiar?
