Obama Response: I Was Friends With Ayers. So?

by Stephan Tawney on August 25, 2008

Team McCain points out that Obama’s associated himself with an unrepentant terrorist, so naturally it’s a distraction. The One uses the same old talking point: I was 8 at the time and I’ve condemned his actions, so what does it matter that I’ve associated myself with him and even launched my political career in his living room? Let’s have a Republican make that argument and we’ll see just how easily he gets away with it.

Anywho, here’s Team McCain’s response to Obama’s pathetic attempt to defuse the issue:

“The fact that Barack Obama chose to launch his political career at the home of an unrepentant terrorist raises more questions about Senator Obama’s judgment than any TV ad ever could. And the fact that he’s launching his own Convention by defending his long association with a man who says he didn’t bomb enough U.S. targets tells us more about Barack Obama than any of tonight’s speeches will.” –McCain spokesman Brian Rogers

Why is Obama even bringing this up more than it has to be mentioned? You think your average voter is going to buy the excuse that he’s condemned Ayer’s actions so all’s good in the world? Hardly.
