In defending its decision to use Greek-style columns at Invesco Field for Obama’s acceptance speech, Team Obama pointed out that President Bush used columns in his speech, too. So, uh, they’re defending themselves by saying they’re acting like Team Bush. If that’s where they want to go with this, okey dokey….

Republicans who are mocking Obama’s appearance haven’t mentioned it, but George W. Bush accepted his own nomination in 2004 on a set with a similar neoclassical theme, with columns rising on either side of him, as the pictures above and below show.

Addendum: The Exciteable Mark Halperin, last seen deleting posts with inaccurate information without so much as a notice, calls this a “remarkable pushback”. Look, I understand the man wouldn’t understand balance if it smacked him in the face, but I don’t recall him getting this excited when Team McCain has pushed back. His Obama schilling is getting a bit tough to handle.
