While the GOP and John McCain have devoted time and effort to raising money for Hurricane Gustav victims, even scaling back the Republican National Convention significantly, there’s absolutely no indication that Barack Obama has decided to cancel or alter the planned fundraiser for his campaign in Switzerland. In fact, according to a report filed yesterday, Obama still intends to raise money from elites for his campaign.
Clooney said the movie – though poking fun at the world of intelligence – had no political intent. Speaking of politics, wouldn’t Clooney, who is planning a fundraiser for presidential hopeful Barack Obama in Geneva, Switzerland next month, rather have been at the Democratic Convention in Denver, this week instead of in Venice?
‘I’m sort of happy to be here. It is one of my favourite places,’ Clooney said. ‘The stars of the convention should be the people who are being elected.’
Surely Obama can afford to do what McCain has done, tapping wealthy donors for funds for hurricane victims rather than his own political aspirations, no?
