CNN’s Failure to Disclose

by Stephan Tawney on September 11, 2008

In yet another media attack piece on Sarah Palin, CNN decided to go to “longtime journalist” Larry Persily who CNN only identified as someone who worked for her for a while. This man that worked for her doesn’t think she has the judgment to be VP, CNN reports. Heck, he even accuses her of only shifting her position when the rest of America.

Who is Larry Persily? A quick Google search would’ve revealed him as a columnist for the Huffington Post. He also donated to the DNC as early as 2004. Neither fact was disclosed in the CNN repot aired today. Nor was in dislcosed in this online report:

But longtime Alaska journalist and former Palin staffer Larry Persily said the governor “is telling only half the story, as far as the earmarks.”

“She was hungry for funding from the federal government that could help her community,” Persily said.

Nice going, CNN.

I am NOT a columnist for the Huffington Post. Someone else must have posted some of my writings on the site. I have never even clicked on the Huffington Post Web site. I have never submitted anything to the Huffington Post. As they say, get the facts straight.

    Larry Persily

Larry, is this not you? The bio says:

“larry Persily, a former Alaska journalist, worked at the Alaska state office in Washington, D.C., until earlier this year. ”

Not good if someone’s apparently posting your material without your permission.

I do not care where Larry is from if he is telling the truth. I am sure the mayor/governor’s record on requesting earmarks and the Washington crowd she associates herself with is well documented. Her whole persona is misrepresented in my opinion. She is not a just a conservative hockey mom, although I do believe she is a pit bull with lipstick. Hockey moms do not wheel and deal hundreds of millions of dollars with Washington. And she raised taxes on oil companies to get Alaska’s oil rich economy in the positive column. She gave back some of the profits to the people of Alaska. I admire that, but raising taxes does not sound very conservative to me. In fact it sounds like what Bill Clinton did in the 90′s.

I’m not slamming CNN for pointing out her past with earmarks. I’m slamming them for using Larry to express his opinion of her judgment and to give his opinion of why she changed without disclosure.

“I admire that, but raising taxes does not sound very conservative to me.”

Well, then, you probably think Ronald Reagan doesn’t sound very conservative, either. He raised taxes twice in 1982 alone.

He also doubled the gas tax.
