Update: Latest advisory has surge somewhere near 20 feet. Hurricane winds still stretch out 125 miles from the center. Storm’s movement seems to have slowed a tad. Several feet of water reported in the Galveston Court House.

Update: Streets in Galveston already being inundated by water. Enough water in some areas that cars are almost ready to float, KPRC reports. ~10 minutes before the back of the eye wall hits. Gas leaks reported.

Update: CNN reporter is filing live report as transformers blow and power goes out. The bad news? That’s only 60MPH winds; It has 40MPH more to go

Update: John Little reports: “Richmond – shepherd – 59 area pitch black”. CNN reports that power could be out in affected areas for weeks.

Update: Reports of Brennan’s restaurant in Houston having burned to the ground. Centerpoint reports 1 million+ customers out of power. KHOU reports storm surge of 12+ feet already, more to come. Galleria area reportedly without power.
