Potential Palin Hacker’s Father (Democratic Legislator) Contacted by Feds

by Stephan Tawney on September 18, 2008

I wrote the following post last night but (honestly) repealed it because I didn’t feel like dealing with defamation claims. Since then things have changed.

Blogger Canadian Guy has been doing some sleuthing in regards to the hacker who accessed Sarah Palin’s email account. The guy who hacked it, according to an emailer to Michelle Malkin’s site, used the email “rubico10@yahoo.com”. The username the hacker used to post was “rubico”.

Well, there’s a profile at a site called “New Grounds” under the alias “rubico10″. (Not necessarily the same person, but how many people use the alias “rubico10″?) The info at that profile lists this rubico10 as a 20-year-old male from Tennessee whose now-defunct website is “Apocolpitic Visions“. The blog lists his real name and the blogger has referred to Fox News as a “hipicrit (sic)”.

Meanwhile, a commenter at Michelle Malkin’s site notes that someone with the same name as our rubico10′s blog has a father who just happens to be a Democratic state legislator.

So that’s what I knew last evening. Since then, rubico10′s YouTube page has been deleted and several other profiles have been cleared/privatized. But that’s just minor information compared to what’s happened now.

Federal authorities have now contacted the alleged father of the hacker, Democratic Rep. Mike Kernell. The alleged hacker’s name is David Kernell, who uses the username “rubico10″. Rep. Mike Kernell’s page is offline as of this posting.
