Bill Heard Chain Collapses; Dealerships Closed

by Stephan Tawney on September 24, 2008

The nation’s top Chevrolet dealer chain, Bill Heard Enterprises, has closed all of its sales operations across the country permanently.

Paul Baker, executive manager of the Columbia, GA-based chain, cited financial issues for the closure. While the company will continue to take care of vehicles and honor agreements at its 13 dealerships, its sales departments have closed effective immediately.

Bill Heard Enterprises, which traces its roots back to the early 1900s, was facing a $50 million deceptive advertising lawsuit and a litany of other complaints from consumers.
