I’ve been so informed by my intellectual betters on the left that Obama’s conections to William Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, and Tony Rezko don’t really matter. It’s not like they’ll be advising his administration or anything, they’ll say. And he was supposedly hardly associated with them even at that.
But Joe the Plumber being somehow related to the son-in-law of Charles Keating? Scandalous! How closely related is he to Keating’s son-in-law? Wurzelbacher didn’t even know they were related when asked at a press conference today. They must be like brothers. Michelle Malkin’s still waiting to hear back from an Ohio reporter who’s looking into the claim.
So now, apparently, associations matter. How? Not entirely sure. Is he alleged to be a plant of sorts? How would that have worked? Obama dropped by his neighborhood — not vice-versa. By press accounts, Wurzelbacher was playing football with his son in their yard when he decided to pop the question to Obama. How was that condusive to him being a right-wing plant? And why would Joe act as a plant for a relative he doesn’t even supposedly know and who is only the son-in-law of Keating? It doesn’t have to make sense. It’s a conspiracy theory.
Just to clarify: The guy asking Obama a question being somehow related to the son-in-law of Charles Keating matters, yet the potential next President of the United States having worked with and launching his career in the home of a domestic terrorist doesn’t. Got it.
More: Ace’s post is an must-read. The New York Times and others are more interested in investigating Joe the Plumber than actually reporting Obama’s “spread the wealth” remark. They dig up dirt and report that he voted in the Republican primary, yet haven’t gotten around to reporting on Obama’s membership in the radical leftist New Party. As Ace writes:
What is the object here? If you can prove that Joe Wurzelbacher, say, is consistently late paying his Columbia Record House subscription, that means Obama didn’t say what he said?
Is that how it works?
With the drive-by media? Yep. Obama could’ve revealed a diabolical plan to destroy America to a questioner and the MSM would’ve concentrated on researching the questioner. Embrace the narrative.

Unfortunately, Joe the Plumber has become a distraction the the more pressing and serious scandal concerning the ACORN voter registration fraud debacle. Can anyone imagine the howls of indignation if the Republican candidate was the one who ‘spread the wealth’ to the tune of approx. $800,000 from their campaign coffers and gave it to ACORN? I refuse to watch network news, but sadly, the majority of Jerry Springer viewers, the Oprah addicts, the View loyalists, the Dr Phil watchers, etc., will be bombarded with every form of negative propaganda concerning both Republican candidates on a daily basis. Consider the latest propaganda piece concerning the alleged remark, “kill him” at a GOP rally. The MSM picked up the story even though the alleged remark was heard by “someone” in the audience. Who was the someone and what exactly did they hear? A Secret Service follow-up investigation found absolutely no evidence that any such incident even occurred, but it didn’t keep the journalistic elite from broadcasting the obvious propaganda racial hit piece that would even make a grocery store gossip rag editor blush.
