After trailing Barack Obama by 51-48% in a survey released Monday, John McCain now leads Obama in North Carolina by 50-48%. Just 1% of North Carolinians now say that they’re “undecided”. Another 1% are backing a third-party candidate.

As Rasmussen Reports notes, North Carolina hasn’t gone blue since it voted for Carter in ’76. If these polls hold, it appears that the trend will continue. In fact, 48% of North Carolinians say that John McCain is the candidate most likely to carry the state. 40% say the same of Obama.
