While asking a former member of Sarah Palin’s gubernatorial staff about the alleged mistake Sarah Palin made when referring to Africa, MSNBC anchor Chris Matthews himself actually referred to Africa as a nation. Seriously.
CHRIS MATTHEWS: I’ve got to go to Larry first. You’ve got to answer this question, sir. Is this person unaware of basic grade-school information, like, Africa is a country of 57-or-so countries, it is not a country, it’s a continent? South Africa is a country, not a region.
A slip of the tongue? Of course. Chris Matthews understands that Africa is a continent — not a country. But then again, the possibility that the same thing happened with Palin has been all-but-ignored by a media anxious to portray her as an idiot.
