Guardian: It’s Secretary of State Clinton
by Stephan Tawney
Hillary Clinton will accept the job offered by Barack Obama to serve as his Secretary of State, The Guardian reports. Obama’s top advisers are reportedly looking into Bill Clinton’s foundation to ensure that there’s no problem, the paper also says.
Clinton, who still harbours hopes of a future presidential run, had to weigh up whether she would be better placed by staying in the Senate, which offers a platform for life, or making the more uncertain career move to the secretary of state job.
This should present an interesting soap opera. Clinton, while agreeing with Obama on issues like withdrawing from Iraq, has strongly opposed unconditional (or “without preparation” as Obama says) talks with nations like Iran. She says it would set the American president to be used for propaganda purposes. Obama disagrees. Now she’ll serve as the nation’s top diplomat.
More: I’m pretty sure this is good news (considering Clinton’s relatively hawkish stance) but what I’m not sure of is how this represents “change”. Clinton isn’t exactly some new, Washington outsider with a long history of reform. Her family name is synonymous with political favors and politics as usual. This all seems rather familiar.

You’re not sure how this represents change?
It is just exactly the kind Obama has practiced during the campaign -
every day he changes according to expediency.
It would be interesting if the rabid pro Obama press ever counted his lies.
