Chambliss himself is saying that he can’t overstate what she did for him, but was she actually needed?

The results from Georgia’s Secretary of State has him having won by 57-42%. The polls had him up by 5% before she even showed up to campaign for him. She certainly seems to have helped widen his margin of victory, but it was already just that: a margin of victory. The only reason he didn’t win last month is because he had to break 50% in a red state and the Libertarian in the race pulled some away from him. In fact, Allahpundit hypothesizes that therein may lie the reason The One didn’t show up to help Martin. Why jump aboard a sinking ship?

That’s not to say that it wasn’t smart of Palin to make the trip. There was very little risk that her starpower would be damaged by a loss after she campaigned for a candidate. Good move by the ‘Cuda.
