Not much a surprise that it passed the House, but I’m a bit surprised/dismayed that 32 Republicans voted for this atrocity. Here’s a list of their full names, so feel free to give them a call if they represent you. After all, they just voted to give away $15 billion of your money to failed companies.
You can’t help but sigh as you read the list of anti-free market Republicans. Thaddeus McCotter recently wrote a column saying we shoud get back to our Republican principles. Apparently he doesn’t feel that those include letting the free market be free. Anway…
On to the U.S. Senate. The prospects of it getting filibustered there are looking better. Senators Ensign, DeMint, Vitter, Shelby, and Coburn are all on record calling it a “travesty”. The bill needs 60 votes to pass that hurdle and Democrats hold just 50. Hopefully it’ll die there.
